President of Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University
Frédéric Fleury, Professor of Genetics, has been President of Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University since 2016. He was re-elected in December 2020 for a second term as head of the University.
He was head of the biology department in the faculty of science and technology at Lyon 1 University from 2010 to 2016. At the same time, he also held the position of vice president in charge of real estate and sustainable development from 2012 to 2016.
He has also directed the “Genetics and the Evolution of Host-Parasite Interactions” research team within the Biometry and Evolutionary Biology laboratory. His research has shown, in particular, the role of certain vertically-transmitted symbiotic bacteria as disruptors in their hosts’ reproduction.
Since 2020, he has been a member of the orientation committee of ANRS-MIE, emerging infectious diseases.
