Alain J. Cozzone - Scientific advisor

Alain COZZONE is an Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University Claude Bernard of Lyon. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Marseille, and carried out long-term research stays at the University of Berkeley and the University of Davis, California.

 

In 1990, he founded, and headed up for seventeen years, the research Institute of Biology and Chemistry of Proteins (IBCP) in Lyon-Gerland. In 1989, he created the interdisciplinary Science/Health Doctoral School (EDISS) at the University of Lyon. He was prize-winner of the French Academy of Sciences and, since 1994, is a Member of the Institut Universitaire de France. He has occupied several important positions at the national (CNRS, CNU, ANR) as well as the international (Europe, Asia) level in the field of Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and fundamental and applied Microbiology.

 

From 2000 to 2004, he was President of the French Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Since 2005, he is in charge of the scientific relationships between the Rhône-Alpes Region and the Universities of Shanghai and, since 2011, he his Head of the “Health” Academic Research Community (ARC).

 

Alain COZZONE is acting as a Scientific Advisor for Lyonbiopôle since June 2013.
