initiative OCTALFA

initiative OCTALFA is a French, self-funded and independent organization dedicated to innovation and solidarity. Its mission is twofold: facilitate innovation in healthcare and provide support to vulnerable people. Initiative OCTALFA works to bring about innovation in healthcare by incubating innovative startups in France, and also supports projects aimed at improving quality of life for cancer patients and disabled people in France and Madagascar. initiative Octalfa was founded on the ground of our previous company, OPi, Pharmaceuticals for Rare Diseases, incepted in 1999 and now part of Jazz Pharmaceuticals. Since 2007, we participated and/or setup 14 companies, most of them in drug development. Our last venture, ORPHELIA pharma, is a clinical-stage company which develops pediatric drugs in oncology and neurology. initiative Octalfa focuses its R&D efforts on the development of therapies for orphan indications and acute care. We strive on projects with high unmet needs in the field of pediatric oncology and hematology, neurology and metabolic disorders. Our objectives are to identify inventions (from hospital, academia or industry) that could benefit to patients, coordinate research and feasibility studies prior to the inception of a dedicated company, define its strategy, set up the management and fund activities until the market introduction of products or structuring partnerships. Our organization is also housing the Fondation Dominique & Tom Alberici, which supports charity projects dedicated to cancer patients and disabled people.
