R&D SCIENTIST – IMMUNO-ONCOLOGY

R&D SCIENTIST – IMMUNO-ONCOLOGY

Location: Lyon, France • Start: April 2026 • Contract: Full‑time / CDI

About Brenus Pharma

Brenus Pharma is a French clinical-stage biotech company pioneering next-generation in vivo immunotherapies.

Based in Lyon with a team of 18 people, we're tackling one of oncology's greatest challenges: cold, immune-invisible solid tumors responsible for 90% of treatment failures and nearly 10 million deaths worldwide each year.

Our Approach

We are focusing on overcoming cancer resistance and relapse with a unique, patented technology platform Stimulated Tumor Ghost Cell (SGC).

This antigen-based approach mimics cancer biology and educates the patient’s immune system to recognize and eliminate malignant cells.

Clinical progress & momentum

Our lead candidate, STC-1010, targets microsatellite-stable (MSS) colorectal cancer to address a major unmet medical need for patients whose current treatment options remain limited to chemotherapy. The program entered Phase I/IIa clinical trials in July 2025.

Backed by €23M in Series A funding (2024) from leading European investors, and supported by BPIFrance, Région Auvergne Industrie, and France 2030, Brenus Pharma aims to become a major player in immuno-oncology, driven by breakthrough innovation with meaningful patient impact.

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated R&D Scientist in immuno-oncology to support and steer research programs conducted mainly through external partners.

You will provide scientific oversight, deliver high-quality data interpretation, and contribute to mechanism of action and translational activities that inform decisions across the pipeline.

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy turning complex datasets into clear insights, collaborating closely with partners, and shaping follow‑up experiments that move programs forward.

What You Will Do

  • Act as the scientific interface with CROs, external labs, and academic partners
  • Contribute to experimental design, protocol review, and technical discussions
  • Review, QC and interpret raw and processed data to extract actionable insights
  • Propose follow‑up studies, define next steps, and produce clear scientific documentation (reports, slide decks, internal summaries)
  • Monitor literature and technologies in immuno‑oncology to continuously optimize experimental strategies
  • Identify scientific/technical risks in outsourced studies and recommend solutions or alternative approaches

What You Bring

Must‑Have

  • Strong expertise in immune cell biology and immuno‑oncology assays, including:
  • Multi‑parameter flow cytometry
  • Cytokine and antibody quantification assays
  • Ex vivo functional assays (e.g., killing assays)
  • Proven ability to analyze complex datasets using FlowJo (or equivalent) and GraphPad Prism
  • Scientific rigor, organization, clear communication, and collaborative mindset
  • Fluency in English (written & spoken)

Nice‑to‑Have

  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and/or Imaging Mass Cytometry (IMC)
  • Experience with in vivo immuno‑oncology models
  • Experience working with human translational samples
  • Familiarity with SOP review, quality standards, and data traceability

Education & Experience

  • PhD in Immunology, Oncology, or a related field (junior profiles welcome), or
  • MSc / Engineering degree with ≥ 5 years of experience in immunology or immuno‑oncology research

Culture & Values: Equity, Transparency, Perseverance

By joining the team, you’re stepping into a company where science, people and purpose all move forward together.

At Brenus, our culture is built around curiosity, learning and the constant desire to grow, individually and collectively. We value creativity, open-mindedness, teamwork and the joy of sharing moments together, whether it’s ideas, challenges, or new experiences.

As a team, we’re supportive, adaptable and engaged. Collaboration, mutual help and the ability to find solutions together are at the heart of our daily work.

Beyond our projects, we are driven by something bigger: contributing to a positive impact on the world, especially in the field of healthcare. Pushing scientific innovation, improving patients’ lives and building a fairer, more sustainable future guides our mission.

To apply, please email your CV to irichert@brenus-pharma.com, along with a brief statement describing your motivation for the position.

BRENUS PHARMA

Brenus Pharma is a clinical-stage biotech developing first-in-class in vivo immunotherapies through an off-the-shelf platform designed to unlock immune responses against solid tumors.

This proprietary technology mimics tumor protein expression and makes it visible. It unveils the widest panel of cancer-associated antigens capable of educating the immune system to fight back against evolving tumor cells.

With €30M raised since inception and CTA approval, Brenus has initiated its first-in-human Phase I/II trial (NCT06934538) in patients with advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer, the second leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide.

The trial is currently underway, with the first patients recruited in Europe and expansion planned in the U.S.

The Brenus platform is standardized and GMP-ready, applying precision medicine principles at scale. It aims to address patients’ medical needs, control time and costs of supply, and reach broader patient populations where personalized therapies remain limited.
