With strong growth ahead, within an international environment, the company is now looking for a Lab Manager.


Description:

As a Lab Manager at AUROBAC, you will oversee the daily operations of the lab, maintain safe and efficient work environment, manage resources and equipment and support the research team in achieving their goals, in compliance with quality and regulatory standards. You will be responsible for managing 4-6 lab personnel (scientists, technicians, engineers, interns), reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer and working in close collaboration with the Head of Project Management and Operations. The AUROBAC lab facilities comprise three modern well-equipped laboratories set up to handle BSL2 microbiology, molecular and cell biology activities. In your role you will work with Program Leaders to define and execute experiments to support and drive forward AUROBAC’s portfolio of early and late-stage R&D programs.
This role requires technical expertise in microbiology/cell biology combined with excellent organizational and leadership skills.


Missions:

• Lab Operations
✓ Day-to-day operations: scheduling, workflow management and equipment usage
✓ Coordination of lab activities to meet the needs of the R&D organization
✓ Inventory & equipment management: lab supplies, equipment purchasing, regular maintenance and calibration

• Scientific expertise in microbiology/cell biology
✓ Set-up of experiments, validation of protocols, data analysis and reporting
✓ Drive the development of new techniques and protocols in support of ATX projects
✓ Presentation of work in meetings

• Team Management
✓ Train and supervise lab staff (4-6 scientists, technicians, engineers, interns)
✓ Health & safety regulation compliance
✓ Recruitment of staff if necessary

• Data and documentation
✓ Maintain detailed records of lab activities, equipment’s logs,
✓ Be responsible for all lab documentation related to Quality management system

• Budgeting
✓ Monitor lab’s budget, including forecasting and tracking expenses.
✓ Ensure cost-effective use of resources


Personal skills:

• Fluency in English and French is a must-have
• Excellent organization & time management skills (planning and prioritization)
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing small teams
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail, precision
• Initiative and creativity
• Problem solving and multi-tasking
• Adaptability, decision making
• Written expression in English


Professional experience:

• Masters/engineering degree or PhD in biology, microbiology, cell biology
• 5+ years of experience in a laboratory setting
• Proven track record in managing teams and/or operational facilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft tools especially excel
• Experience of working in an international environment.
