11/20/2014 - Review on Innovation Clinic Day 

First Innovation Clinic Day, organized by Lyonbiopole was held at Merck Serono and was attended by nearly 70 participants mainly hospital and SMEs, but also representatives of Health Agencies (HAS , MSNA) and trade unions (LEEM , SNITEM).

11/19/2014 - Review on Open Innovation Day - Becton Dickinson & Minalogic

Aiming to develop cooperation between large companies and SMBs, Lyonbiopole and Minalogic organized together an Open Innovation day dedicated to Beckton Dickinson. During the event, French and American business units of Beckton Dickinson presented their technological needs in various field especially : pharmaceutical system, diabetes,  smart devices and diagnostics. More than 110 participants (SMB, Research center, universities…) participated to this event. This day was the opportunity for BD to present its business units’ objectives and their technological priorities to SMBs. Becton Dickinson presentation has been followed by speeches of 18 SMBs and 30 B2B meetings between BD’s team and SMBs.

11/03/2014 - 21 companies, members of Lyonbiopole present at BIO-Europe Frankfurt

BIO-Europe, a major event in Europe dedicated to meeting business and partnering for life science sector companies, held from 3 to 5 November 2014 in Frankfurt, was again a great success. Thus, nearly 20 companies members of Lyonbiopole were present on the 3 day convention. On this occasion, the cluster held alongside its European partners of bioXclusters a satellite networking session between European and Japanese clusters bringing together nearly 40 participants.

Theranexus

Theranexus is a biotechnology company spin off from CEA and member of Lyonbiopole. It has just completed a fundraising of € 3.6M thanks to Auriga Partners, CEA Investissement (Boot Technological Investment Fund) of Emergence Innovation 1 Managed by Sofimac Partners and Rhône-Alpes Creation. This fundraising will help the launch of the clinical program leading society, THN102 , for the treatment of narcolepsy, debilitating orphan disease touching chronically sleep and wakefulness.

This scientific day is organised in Lyon on 1st December 2014. The IHU Opera Search program consists in several projects at the intersection of nutrition, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, kidney transplantation and tissue regeneration. The Ministry of Economy, Industry and digital de France and the Ministry of Economy of Israel are pleased to invite you to the 3rd day of the Franco- Israeli innovation, in Paris. 11/2014 - Horizon 2020 Health: calls for projects open

Several calls for projects in the H2020 "Health, demographic change and well-being" challenge, are open ("Calls H2020-PHC-2015 one-step" are still open: deadline 2/24/2015). They are designed to support collaborative projects to improve the quality of life of European citizens and the economic viability of health systems. Other calls related to health (like NMP program) or multidisciplinary programs like FET (Future Emerging Technologies) are open. 11/2014 - H2020 SME instrument 

H2020 program includes the SME instrument. It aims to fill gaps in the high-risk funding of innovation and give a strong boost to reach innovation. It targets the highly innovative SMEs with a strong ambition to develop, grow and internationalize; focusing on the delivery of new products, services or processes on the market. For SMEs in the health sector, the SME instrument is focused on the PHC-12 Clinical research for the validation of biomarkers and/or diagnostic medical devices line. The project can be presented by a single SME, and different phases depending on the maturity of the project. Reminder of deadlines in 2014: Phase 1 & 2 projects = 12/17/2014. 11/2014 – IMI 2 call for projects open 

The Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) launched calls for projects under the IMI 2. A specific call for projects has been launched (fast track process) for the fight against EBOLA. Deadline for submission: Dec, 1st 2014. IMI encourages the participation of SMEs, patient organizations, regulatory authorities, academic teams, industry, hospitals and other organizations. 11/2014 - New Eurostars 2 call for project

The new Eurostars 2 call for projects is open. This funding programme is fully dedicated to innovative SMEs aiming to launch R&D projects closed to the market, that are collaborative and European (at least 2 partners from EU). The funding rate for projects goes from 30 to 40 % (subsidy managed by BPI France). Thus the new Eurostars 2 call for project is launched, which submission deadline is planned on March 5th, 2015. 11/21/2014 - Valneva wins 2 prices and joins EnterNext

Valneva announced that it has been awarded of two Deloitte In Extenso Technology Fast 50 awards and the PME Finance/ Morningstar Futur 40 award as one of France’s fastest growing technology companies. Valneva also announced two new EB66® cell line research license agreements in Japan.

11/17/2014 - Eyetechcare, start-up of the year

The first prize of the Falling Walls Venture competition was awarded to EyeTechCare for it’s innovative reatment of glaucoma, a degenerative disease of the optic nerve that affects about 4% of the world population and can lead to blindness. EyeTechCare has developed the first ophthalmic device that operates with High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). It has treated over 1000 patients so far and is clinically tested and approved for sale in Europe. So far, the French-based company has managed to collect 16 Million Euros in investments, which allowed to develop the product and to begin commercialisation.

04/11/2014 - ImmunId, progress for ImmunTraCKeR®

ImmunID announced that an abstract has been accepted for oral presentation at the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer Annual Meeting being held November 6 to 9, 2014 in National Harbor, MD. The abstract titled “T cell receptor diversity evaluation to predict patient response to Ipilimumab in metastatic melanoma” will be presented Saturday, November 8, at 5:10 pm during the Session “High Throughput Technologies: Determinants of the Immune Response to Cancer” by Dr. Michael Postow, a medical oncologist in the Melanoma and Immunotherapeutics Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and lead author on the study.

03/11/2014 - Innate Pharma, preclinical data published in "cancer research"

Innate Pharma SA, the innate immunity company developing first-in-class therapeutic antibodies for cancer and inflammatory diseases, today announced that a peer-reviewed scientific article describing IPH4102 and results of preclinical efficacy studies was published online in Cancer Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.

17/11/2014 - Microbiota workshop highlights

Intestinal microbiota is a major scientific and medical subject of study. In this context, Lyonbiopole organized with CENS a workshop dedicated to this subject. This event was held on 17 November in Lyon and gathered 58 public and private experts in this field, located mostly in Rhône-Alpes region. After a presentation of the microbiota, its role in diseases and the associated tools and models, the last part of the plenary sessions was devoted to the consideration of SHS aspects. In the afternoon, the participants gathered in two roundtables to exchange more specifically on technological challenges on analytical tools and models of intestinal microbiota.
