THE COSMO COMPANY

The CoSMo Company is an innovative startup specialized in modeling and simulation, which enables the world’s largest groups to master the increasing complexity of their core activities. The software and services developed by The CoSMo Company provide breakthrough innovations in areas like the resilience of complex supply chains, the robustness of critical networks (electricity, water, communication, etc.), urban infrastructure sustainability and bioproduction optimization for the pharmaceutical industry. At the end of March, the company has successfully completed its first fundraising of € 3.8 million with a selection of corporate and financial funds and at the same time it has been selected by UBIFRANCE and Bpifrance to participate at the new program start-up accelerator "Ubi i/o", which includes 10 weeks of immersion in the Silicon Valley. At the end of April, the creation of a subsidiary in the United States (San Francisco) was also formalized.

06/03-04/2014 - The congress Bioproduction organized by the A3P will be held in Lyon

Lyonbiopole and its innovation platform, Accinov, are pleased to announce you the organization by the A3P, the Association for clean and sterile products, of the Bioproduction congress held in Lyon on June, 3 and 4. After a successful edition in 2013, this year edition, extended over two days will gather at the Espace Tete d’Or (Lyon), speakers who will share their experiences and coordinate workshop sessions. The case studies will highlight the stakes and challenges faces during product development from cell culture to formulation. A tour of the sites of Sanofi Pasteur and Genzyme is also proposed.

During the Forum BIOVISION 2014, which will be held on June 5-6, 2014 in Lyon, Lyonbiopole will co-organized for the second consecutive year the two sessions “Catalyzer” and “Investor Conference”. BIOVISION Catalyzer offers the opportunity to present collaborative projects and initiatives during the forum in order to gain visibility and identify potential partners. The French National contact points H2020 Health, Lyonbiopole, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon, member of the Enterprise Europe Network, with the support of the Rhône-Alpes Region, organize July 4, 2014 in Lyon, European Brokerage event. This event will be dedicated to the search of potential partners to set up consortia for the opening of calls 2015, the challenge "H2020: Health, demographic change and Well-being" (to be published in the summer of 2014). The day will include presentations of future European projects and bilateral meetings preprogrammed with potential partners (companies, academic ...) from all over Europe. Registration are open.

01/2014 - Innovation 2030 Worldwide Innovation Challenge

The Innovation 2030 Commission, chaired by Anne Lauvergeon has defined 7 major ambitions relying on strong, growing, societal expectations, for which innovative solutions are needed. Among these pillars for France's future development is Personalised medicine. The Innovation 2030 Worldwide Innovation Challenge will include 3 phases. The Start-up Phase is opened until May 15th. The expected projects must be supported by individual company or consortia. The selected projects must show a strong potential for French economy and correspond to one of the seven goals. The selected project receive a financial subsidy which can reach 200 000€.

04/2014 - New Eurostars 2 call for projects

The new Eurostars 2 call for projects is open. This funding programme is fully dedicated to innovative SMEs aiming to launch R&D projects closed to the market, that are collaborative and European (at least 2 partners from EU). The funding rate for projects goes from 30 to 40% (subsidy managed by BPI France). Thus the new Eurostars 2 call for project is launched, which submission deadline is planned on Sept. 11, 2014. 2 infodays are organized on June 5 in Lyon and June 6 in Grenoble - get registered. 04/07/2014 - Horizon 2020: Publication of the 1st Horizon 2020 calls for projects

The European Commission has published on December 11th 2013 the first Horizon 2020 calls for projects, the new European funding program for research and innovation with a budget of €80 billion, of which more than 15 billion euros for the first two years. The program has three pillars: scientific excellence, nearly 3 billion euros planned, including 1.7 billion for grants for top researchers; industrial leadership: € 1.8 billion are provided to support the industrial leadership of Europe in areas such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, and the societal challenges: € 2.8 billion is dedicated for innovative projects on the 7 social issues including H2020 health. 04/15/2014 - The Executive Director of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria visiting Lyonbiopole

Lyonbiopole was pleased to host April 15, Mark Dybul, Executive Director of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, accompanied by Nicolas Niemtchinow, Ambassador of France, Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva. Consecutive visits of the Infectious Diseases Center and Accinov, two Lyonbiopole's infrastructures, helped highlighted the value of the forces in Rhône-Alpes region. Promising discussions were held on potential interactions with the topics covered by the Fund: AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

04/08/2014 - Lyonbiopole, partner of the 1st "Grenoble Medtech Industry Meeting"

As part of the thematic expansion of its strategic roadmap 3.0 to medical devices and medical technologies, Lyonbiopole, structuring actor of health ecosystem in Rhône-Alpes, was partner of the first "MedTech industry meeting" that took place in Grenoble on April 8. This day was organized by the University Joseph Fourier and the University Hospital of Grenoble, in collaboration with Minalogic, Medic@lps, Eccami, I-care and Tasda. Several Lyonbiopole member companies participated at this event: Becton Dickinson, Biomerieux, CEA Flogentec, Technidata, Genel.

04/04/2014 - Lyonbiople renews its seats Steering Committee CEBR

At the annual meeting of the CEBR, Council of European Bio Regions, held on 3 and 4 April in Coimbra, Portugal, in the Biocant Science Park, Lyonbiopole renewed its mandate to serve on the Steering Committee of the CEBR. Elected for 3 years, after a successful first term, the pole is the only French representative decision-making committee of the network that includes more than 60 European clusters in biotechnology and health. This alliance enables its members to meet regularly to share best practices, work on the development of new cooperation between clusters and their members and represent their interests to the European authorities.

04/02/2014 - 5th anniversary of the Infectious Diseases Center

To celebrate the 5th anniversary of  Infectious Diseases Center, a cocktail was organized, bringing together the five companies using the R&D laboratories platform. Lyonbiopole objective is to welcome public and private companies in optimal conditions, always in response to the regulation. The 1920sq.m of the centre add to its welcoming offer, a qualified service support companies. Gathering 34 laboratories at its opening on 1st April 2009, the Centre added to its service offering two BSL2 class laboratories and two new employees have joined the team dedicated for the infrastructures, to 5 people. Necessary evolutions to answer growing needs and demands.

04/28/2014 - Merck Serono and EMLYON Business School promote job creation

The Incubator EMLYON Business School and Merck Serono combine under a plan to revitalize the territory implemented by the pharmaceutical company to support economic activity in the Rhône -Alpes region. This partnership takes the form of a call for projects of entrepreneurship that will allow eight young entrepreneurs from the urban community of Lyon (Grand Lyon), or the Rhône -Alpes region, integrating of program acceleration "Boost" proposed by the Incubator EMLYON.

04/18/2014 - EVEON signs an agreement with UCB

EVEON announced the signing of an agreement with UCB, a leading biopharmaceutical based in Belgium for the filing of a joint patent. The patent relates to a method for reconstructing significantly improves the preparation of non-liquid drugs (eg lyophilized drugs) prior to injection.
