03/10-12/2014 - Strong representation of Lyonbiopole during Bio Europe Spring 2014

One more successful year for Bio Europe Spring in Torino with more than 1 200 companies represented and more than 2 000 delegates. With more than 20 companies from Lyonbiopole, the Rhône Alpes region and Lyonbiopole was well represented during the event. Lyonbiopole and its partner from bioXcluster were present and highly visible during the exhibition thank to a well-positioned booth. For Lyonbiopole the event was also an opportunity to strengthen its relationship with its European partners and discuss with them potential project.

During the Forum BIOVISION 2014, which will be held on June 5-6, 2014 in Lyon, Lyonbiopole will co-organize for the second consecutive year the two sessions “Catalyzer” and “Investor Conference”. Adocia, member of Lyonbiopole, is a company world leader in insulin formulations and therapeutic proteins biotechnology. The owner BioChaperone technology platform (R), aims to improve the effectiveness of therapeutic proteins and to facilitate the use for patients. Adocia recorded its first success this month with positive clinical phase I and II on the fast formulation of human insulin , a phase I study on a high-speed analog formulation of insulin lispro and study phase I / II on a unique combination of glargine basal insulin analogue reference and analog insulin lispro.

04/10/2014 - Take part in 2014 academic/industry interaction workshop in Lyon (France)

Influence future H2020 calls and develop your European partnerships in systems medicine, by coming to Lyon on April 10th 2014. Participants to this event come from large companies (Bayer, BioMérieux, Philips and Roche diagnostics), SMEs, hospitals, research organizations and regulatory agencies. The event is organized in 2 sessions : in the morning, 3 round tables are set in parallel. Their results will directly influence the CASyM roadmap, the afternoon is dedicated to European partnerships development, thanks to technological offers and R&D collaborative projects flash presentations, and large companies cooperative R&D strategies presentations. Registration is free but compulsory before April 4th, 2014 5:00 p.m.

04/18/2014 - 1-day hands-on computation systems medicine tutorial for young medical doctors and scientists in Stuggart

Participants of this tutorial will get hands-on experience in different  mathematical and informatics approaches to medical and pharma relevant questions from top European clinicians, industrial and academic scientists.  The tutorial will be accredited with CME points for continuous professional development in  pharmacokinetics and systems medicine. 06/3-4/2014 - Save the date ! The congress Bioproduction organized by the A3P will be held in Lyon

Lyonbiopole and its innovation platform, Accinov, are pleased to announce you the organization by the A3P, the Association for clean and sterile products, of the Bioproduction congress held in Lyon on the 3rd and 4th of June. After a successful edition in 2013, this year edition, extended over two days will gather at the Espace Tete d’Or (Lyon), speakers who will share their experiences and coordinate workshop sessions. The case studies will highlight the stakes and challenges faces during product development from cell culture to formulation. A tour of the sites of Sanofi Pasteur and Genzyme is also proposed.

The French National contact points H2020 Health, Lyonbiopole, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon, member of the Enterprise Europe Network, with the support of the Rhône-Alpes Region, organize July 4, 2014 in Lyon, European Brokerage event. This event will be dedicated to the search of potential partners to set up consortia for the opening of calls 2015, the challenge "H2020: Health, demographic change and Well-being" (to be published in the summer of 2014). Universal Biotech and its partners are proud to announce that the call for proposal for the 6th edition of the Innovation Prize is now open! The prize rewards innovative projects in the following fields: Drugs, Biologics, Medical Devices, Medical Technologies and e-health solutions. 01/2014 - Innovation 2030 Worldwide Innovation Challenge

The Innovation 2030 Commission, chaired by Anne Lauvergeon has defined 7 major ambitions relying on strong, growing, societal expectations, for which innovative solutions are needed. Among these pillars for France's future development is Personalised medicine. The Innovation 2030 Worldwide Innovation Challenge will include 3 phases. The Start-up Phase is opened until May 15th. The expected projects must be supported by individual company or consortia. The selected projects must show a strong potential for French economy and correspond to one of the seven goals. The selected project receive a financial subsidy which can reach 200 000€.

12/11/2013 - Publication of the 1st Horizon 2020 calls for projects

The European Commission has published on December 11th 2013 the first Horizon 2020 calls for projects, the new European funding program for research and innovation with a budget of €80 billion, of which more than 15 billion euros for the first two years. The program has three pillars: scientific excellence, nearly 3 billion euros planned, including 1.7 billion for grants for top researchers; industrial leadership: € 1.8 billion are provided to support the industrial leadership of Europe in areas such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, and the societal challenges: € 2.8 billion is dedicated for innovative projects on the 7 social issues including H2020 health. The 11th call for projects open. 03/2014 - ERA-NET calls for European projects

The French National Research Agency is involved in several ERA -NET European funding programs to support research projects in domains as infectious diseases (INFECT-ERA) and antimicrobial resistance (JPI AMR). Two calls for proposals are currently open in this context. INFECT-ERA, the call for proposals is open until 04/02/2014 - find all the information and conditions here and find partners there. JPI in AMR, the first call has been publishedInnovaResistance: Innovative Approaches to address antibacterial resistance(deadline 03/14/2014). Find all the information here and find partners there. The ANR is involved in other ERA-NETs like EuroNanoMed II (nano-medecine), JPND (neurodegenerative diseases), E-RARE 2 (rare disease). SME participation is strongly encouraged in these programs that are an effective way to integrate a long-term network of European players.

03/17/2014 - Simon Pico, new China Project Manager for Lyonbiopole

End of March Simon Pico joined Lyonbiopole's team as China Project Manager. After a Master of Science in Biology, he completed its education with a Masters in Management of Innovation. He started its career working for 4 years at Universa Medica including 2 years in China as Business Developer. Balancing between Sciences, Business and China, he has the right profile for this mission. Simon Pico has several missions in China. Firstly, for the Lyonbiopôle and its partners he will strengthen the local visibility, but also more generally, for Rhône-Alpes Region and Chinese Authorities. His main mission will be to support the Rhône-Alpes SME in China, raising awareness to the Chinese market and its opportunities, proposing adapted strategies to enter this market and following their projects to maximize their chance of success. He will manage and develop Chinese and European scientific and industrial networks in Shanghai and strengthen academic and clinical relationships on Infectious diseases and oncology thematic, as part of our collaboration with the CLARA (Cancéropôle Lyon Auvergne Rhône- Alpes) in Oncology.

03/24/2014 - Valneva announces continuation of clinical trial for its Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Vaccine Candidate.

Valneva and co-development partner decided to continue ongoing trial following data review of the interim analyses, further internal assessments and discussions with European regulators; Recruitment of patients for clinical trial is expected to resume Q2 / 2014; Preliminary results are expected at the end of 2015 / early 2016.

03/25-26/2014 - PDA Europe : Modern Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing

Lyonbiopole and its innovation platform Accinov attended the congress organized by the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) in Lyon on the 25 and 26th March, 2014. André DUPONT, the Qualified Person of Accinov, opened the congress as a key-note speaker and highlighted new trends and new stakes of pharmaceutical biomanufacturing. He introduced the main topics that were discussed during the congress and among them: the increasing use of disposable technologies and the need of flexibility in operation management. The congress gathered suppliers and drug manufacturers came from all around Europe who were able to discover Accinov facilities and the biomanufacturing units available on the platform. 

03/25-26/2014 - Visit of China President Republic at bioMérieux

Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China was in Lyon on 25 and 26th March. The presidential couple visited bioMérieux, at Marcy l'Étoile. An opportunity to highlight the strong historic ties between bioMérieux and China. Emphasis was placed on human diagnostic and food security, two central issues in China.
