ANASTOM SURGICAL

Founded in May 2012, Anastom Surgical is a startup specialised in conceiving and bringing to the market innovative surgical circular suturing medical devices. The company’s founding stone is a patented technology invented by Arnold Ferlin (CEO / Technical Director) and Vetagro Sup, exclusively licenced to Anastom Surgical.
Circular suturing is a surgical gesture consisting in connecting together hollow organs. This gesture is still mainly performed by the surgeon with a needle and wires and with potential crippling side effects for the patient, should the tissues be damaged in the process.
Anastom Surgical’s technology is the first to combine the speed, safety and reliability of an automated device with the benefits of the mucosa to musoca connection, specific to wire suturing. The potential for the technology is large with possible applications in urology, gastroantereology and cardiovascular surgery.
Anastom Surgical has planned to enter the market in 2014 with its first medical device - the UroLink - an automated circular suturing device specifically designed to assist the surgeon during radical prostatectomy (removal of the prosate).
