ADVANCED LIQUID LOGIC FRANCE

The US-based company Advanced Liquid Logic Inc. (ALL) and its French subsidiary Advanced Liquid Logic France (ALL France) market their proprietary technology of Digital Microfluidic (DMF) based on electrowetting on insulator for applications in the field of life science and medical diagnostics. The DMF technology enables precise and flexible handling of droplets (~ 300nL) using electric fields, thus eliminating the pumps, valves or microchannels required by competing technologies. ALL France is located on Grenoble and is a new member of Lyonbiopole.

05/21/2012 - Five member companies of Lyonbiopole participated to the collective mission of French competitiveness cluster « Biomarkers and Personalized Medicine » at Philadelphia

Lyonbiopole accompanied 5 member companies on the collective mission "Biomarkers and Personalized Medicine" hold in Philadelphia, on the occasion of the Conference "Biomarker World Congress 2012" May from 21st to 25th, 2012. The French delegation, 12 French companies including 5 members of Lyonbiopole (Altrabio, BioFilm Control, Erytech Pharma, Netris Pharma, Pierre Fabre and The Cosmo Company) participated in this mission and were able to get an overview about research in the field of biomakers at the international exhibition Biomarkers. This mission was the result of a partnership between all the French health clusters, which action was coordinated by the cluster Atlanpole and Ubifrance's teams in the United States and France, with the support of DGCIS.

09/09/2012 to 09/14/2012: Lyonbiopole is preparing a mission to Brazil in the framework of the bioXclusters project

As part of its European project bioXclusters, funded by DG Enterprise (EC), Lyonbiopole and its partners are currently organizing a mission to Brazil from September 9th to 14th, 2012, prepared in collaboration with Dr. Eduardo Soares, CEO of BioMinas cluster that visited Lyonbiopole on April 10th, 2012. The mission will include visits to research institutes, biotech companies of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro regions. The program will also include the participation in Bio Partnering Latin America to be held in Rio. Lyonbiopole provides an opportunity for its SMB members to participate in this mission through financial support as part of its PPTI. Mission package will soon be released.

10/21 to 10/25/2012 - Discover the 2nd health market in the world by participating in the "Health in Shanghai" trade mission

Lyonbiopole, in partnership with Erai and supported by the Rhone-Alpes region, organizing a mission to China from October 21st to 25th, 2012. This trade mission includes: a program of meetings with potential partners, visits to the technology park of Taizhou and technology parks in Shanghai: Zhangjiang High Tech Park and Juke Biotech Park. Lyonbiopole invites its members to express their interest to participate in this mission to China.

10/04/2012 - Lyon has been selected to host the 2012 International Prix Galien

After New York, the International Prix Galien Ceremony will be held in Lyon on October 4th, 2012. The Prix Galien International awarded each year to recent therapeutic innovations available to the public and pharmaceutical research. It helps to promote and stimulate research on medicines and to encourage laboratories and the teams that advance. Upstream of the gala for the award in the salons of the city hall, the Aderly and these partners will organize a Forum in which conferences will be led on the key themes of health today, public private research etc. Nearly 300 people are expected.

The 6th edition of Partnering Days will be held Friday, October 12, 2012 at the World Trade Center in Grenoble. Ttargets of this annual event are to: present public funds for R&D projects and strategic axes of Lyonbiopole, introduce all R&D projects accredited by Lyonbiopole and funded since 2005, encourage exchanges between participants and initiate new collaborations through the organization of thematic roundtables. 05/2012 – Last calls of the FP7 Health program

The last FP7 Health calls for projects will open in July 2012. The European Commission already publishes the orientation paper that prepares the future calls. After a 7-year existence, the budget of this year is the highest and a large part is dedicated to SMBs. 2 main calls should open, one dealing with 35 topics and a second one particularly targeted to SMBs regarding 2 topics. A day event on these calls was organized on May 11th in Lyon gathering 70 attendees. If you were not able to come at this event and you wish to prepare a FP7 project, Lyonbiopole can support you thanks to the PPTE. A networking event Meet4LifeSciences, specifically dedicated to SMBs, is organized on June 26th and 27th 2012, in Basel (Switzerland).

3/23/2012 - Reminder: 2nd Structuring Research and Development Projects of competitiveness cluster (PSPC) call for projects is open

Under the program "Investments for the future", the second call for projects "for structuring R&D projects for clusters" (AAP PSPC) is continuously open until 15 January 2013 on the site www.competitivite.gouv.fr. A first selection will be made late in May 2013 based on filings in late April. To be eligible to the call, your project must be a R&D collaborative project, accredited by a French cluster, involving at least 2 companies and one lab (€ 5M expenses minimum). Lyonbiopole helps you to study your accreditation request.

04/13/2012 - Launching of the Innovation COOPOL program: Phase 1 (exploratory missions) and Phase 2 (bilateral projects)

The Innovation COOPOL program was developed by the department for science and technology (SST) of the French Embassy in China to clusters and French technological parks. It is for a pair consisting of an innovative member of these clusters and its academic research. This program is divided into two phases: I) exploratory missions of evaluation and identification of potential partners for cooperation on R&D projects (phase 1), ii) aids to support the launch of bilateral projects in the field of research, development and innovation (phase 2). Both calls will be closed June 30th, 2012.

05/2012 – Build your European projects thanks to European Technological Partnership
Program (ETPP)

Lyonbiopole strengthens its support of its members in their orientation to Europe. Launched in December 2010, the ETPP program supported by the DGCIS allows SMB cluster members that have never been funded or retained by the EU to benefit from individual support for building their project to Europe. The programs specifically targeted are Eurostars and FP7. Since the start of the ETPP, 6 “Europe” workshops dedicated programs were organized, 21 companies have benefited from diagnostic meetings of their projects and some of them have applied to calls for proposals. This support will end in June 2013, we remind you that FP7 will open its last calls in July 2012, will follow a blank year. Thus, Lyonbiopole is at your disposal to benefit from the ETPP particularly in the context of the opening of these calls.

05/09/2012 - An institutional delegation of the Canton of Geneva visits Lyonbiopole and its Infectious Diseases Center, with the support of Rhone-Alpes region

As part of an exploratory mission, the leaders of economic and external affairs services of the Canton of Geneva met Lyonbiopole leaders in order to better understand these structures and their issues to explore synergies between Geneva and the Rhone-Alpes region. 6 representatives of Regional Affairs, Economy and Health Department of the Canton of Geneva visited Lyonbiopole on May 9th, 2012 with the Rhone-Alpes region.

Find your international partners through the International Technological Partnership Program (ITPP)

In place since 2008 and based on the results obtained, Lyonbiopole is strengthening its international development plan. The ITPP aims to foster companies'growth by supporting them in finding strategic partners. Thus, the cluster offers its member companies a technical and financial support for research of international strategic partners, access to collective thematic missions as well as international events. For the second half of 2012, Lyonbiopole offers thematic missions abroad: a mission targeting the market of Brazil (September) and another China (Shanghai, October) and a mission on the west coast of the United States dedicated to immunology, inflammation and neuroscience (November). Lyonbiopôle is at your disposal throughout the year, to support you in your international development.

04/27/2012 - Sanofi Pasteur choosen by Japan for First Enhanced Inactivated Polio Vaccine

Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of Sanofi, announced that the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) has approved the company’s standalone Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV) against acute flaccid poliomyelitis (IMOVAX® POLIO). IMOVAX® POLIO will be added to the country’s public immunization program on September 1st.

05/04/2012 - The incubator of innovative companies CREALIS  presents its balance sheet to the press

CREALYS, whose aims to foster the emergence of technology startups, at growth potential and job creation in the Rhône-Alpes region, issues or from drawing on skills of a research structure, presented its balance sheet in front of journalists during a press conference held Thursday, May 24th, 2012 in Domilyon building. Six newly established companies in life sciences were also presented. CREALYS is recognized as the 1st French incubator in number of technology companies created in connection with public research and now has 156 startups accompanied in the field of Life Sciences, Technologies of Information and Communication Technologies Engineer, Cleantech and Humanities and Social Sciences.
