Kallistem

Kallistem is a start-up specialized in animal and human in vitro spermatogenesis. It originates from results of the research conducted over 15 years by a scientific team directed by Philippe Durand at the Institute of Functional Genomics of Lyon (IGFL, Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon). The company develops innovative technologies for germ cells culture to meet the new challenges of testicular toxicity and male infertility.

01/20/2012 - The biotechnology  workshop "ways of research in sepsis" will be led by members and partners of Sepsis program during the 40th International Congress of the Society of French Language Resuscitation

The Sepsis program, coordinated by Lyonbiopole, took part in the 40th International Congress of the Society of French Language Resuscitation, which was held on January from 18th to 20th, 2012 at the CNIT (Centre des Nouvelles Industries et Technologies) in Paris La Défense. Members and partners of Sepsis program were present  on January 20th and hosted the biotechnology  workshop "ways of research in sepsis". Three sessions were organized :
« Etat des connaissances » presented by Professeur Jean-François Timsit - médecin réanimateur - CHU de Grenoble ; « Immunité et Sepsis » presented by Docteur Guillaume Monneret - immunologiste - Hospices Civils de Lyon ; « Plaquettes et Sepsis » presented by Docteur Hamzeh-Cognasse - research unit - Faculté de Médecine de Saint-Etienne. This workshop was animated by Professeur Jean-Paul Mira - anesthésiste réanimateur - l’Hôpital Cochin.

This half a day, set up in partnership with Genopole® of Evry, aims to enable industry players to network (conferences of interest, company presentations and Business meetings via B4B-MatchMeeting, BIO-Partnering tool) and informal (breaks, lunches and cocktail of Networking). CLARA will organize on March 20th to 21st, 2012 the 7th scientific days. Lyonbiopole is partner of the first day on March 20th on "Innovative Approaches in Anticancer Monoclonal Antibodies". This day will consist on presentations led by Janice Reichert, Christian Klein, Coiffier Bertrand and Alain Beck, roundtables and face-to-face.

05/25/2012 - Trade Mission on Personalized Medicine at the occasion of the Biomarker World Congress

At the occasion of Biomarker World Congress, that will take place in Philadelphia from May 21st to 23rd 2012, Lyonbiopole in collaboration with the 6 other French Bioclusters, will organize a trade mission dedicated to Personalized Medicine. This trade mission will gather french companies active in the field of Biomarker and Personalized Medicine and willing to build strategic and technological partnership with US companies. This operation, led by Atlanpole, is a result of a strong collaboration between the French BioClusters, the DGCIS (Ministry of Industry) and the UbiFrance 's teams from France and US.

The 8th call for proposals of the Eurostars program is open. Applications can be uploaded on line until March 1st 2012, 20:00. The next deadlines for application are planned for the end of September. Lyonbiopole organized a “Europe” workshop dedicated to these calls animated by Patrick Cornet, French Eurostars contact point at OSEO. 07/2012 - Preparation of the last FP7 Health Calls for proposals

The 7th European Framework Program of the European Union is starting its last year. The last FP7 Health program calls for proposals will open in July 2012. In order to support you in your project preparation, Lyonbiopole gets mobilized and keeps you informed on the modalities and topics of the last calls. An information day will be organized with the national contact points during the semester. 01/2012 - Launching of the European project BioX4Clusters

The BioX4Clusters project selected in December 2011, by the call for projects "Promoting world-class clusters" by DG Enterprise (European Commission), has started. Coordinated by ERAI Rhôbe-Alpes, it gathers 4 European Life Sciences clusters (Lyonbiopole, BioCat (Catalonia), BioM (Bayern Region) and BioPmed (Piedmont). The partners will meet on March 1st and 2nd, 2012 in Lyon, for the official Kick-off meeting. This initiative, that will last 24 months, aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Life Sciences European SME by facilitating their international development (3 target markets: Brazil, China, USA).

As part of its new support program for SMBs in China, Lyonbiopole organizes, in partnership with ERAI, a workshop led by its representative based in Shanghai, Simon Gudin. Thus, during the workshop "Develop your activity on the Chinese market", Lyonbiopole will present 1) the characteristics of the healthcare market in China, 2) the constraints on regulatory and intellectual property, 3) its support program for SMBs in China. 12/2011 - Lyonbiopole selected for the CEBR Steering Committee

Lyonbiopole was selected in December 2011 to “seat” at the CEBR – Council of European Bio Regions – Steering Committtee. Elected for 3 years, Lyonbiopole will be the only French representative cluster in the committee gathering 100 other European Life Science Clusters. It allows its members to meet regularly to exchange good practices, work on new interclustering cooperation and represent their interests towards EU institutions.

12/2011 - Transgene coordinates  «Immunocan» European research program

Transgene answered the 1st call for project of the European Commission for countries outside Europe called "INCOLAB" (International Cooperation Laboratory). The selected project, IMMUNOCAN is a unique opportunity to extend the existing cooperation between the laboratory of FuDan University Shanghai Cancer Center - Institut Mérieux and Europe by opening the joint Institute to other European member States. So, it will become a reference center for medical and scientific diagnosis and prognosis of cancers. A subsidy of € 2M has been awarded to the IMMUNOCAN project leaded by Transgene over 4 years.

01/12/2012 - Inserm Transfert Initiative raises € 33,5M : Fonds National d’Amorçage's first investment in the framework of “Investments for the future” program

This amount was set up by the French government to provide capital to companies developing innovative technologies that generate competitive advantages, jobs and economic activity. Three major institutional investors took part in the Inserm Transfert Initiative fund-raising: 1) the French government via the Fonds National d’Amorçage (€15 M), which is managed by CDC Entreprises as part of the government's "Investments for the future" program, 2) CDC Entreprises through its FSI France Investissements programme (€5 M) and 3) Inserm/Inserm Transfert (€5 M).After this fund-raising, Inserm Transfert Initiative is aiming to support the growth of 15-20 new companies by investing an average of €2 million per company over a 5-year period.

Sanofi announced that it is co-investing in Warp Drive Bio, an innovative start-up biotechnology company, along with 2 venture capital firms, Third Rock Ventures (TRV), a venture capital firm based in Boston, Massachusetts, and Greylock Partners, a venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, California. Warp Drive Bio is an innovative biotechnology company, focusing on proprietary genomic technology to discover drugs of natural origin.

12/01/2011 - Indicia Biotechnology enhances its offering in the assessment of immunogenicity of biologics

By signing an agreement with the French company Proteus, Indicia Biotechnology has acquired the rights to exploit Immuno'line ™, a full range of services and patented technologies dedicated to Risk Assessment Immunogenicity. Following its acquisition by PCAS group, Proteus has embarked on an internal restructuring process based on realignment on its core business, namely green chemistry and sustainable development.
