Like every year, Lyonbiopole updates its Life Sciences Actor Directory in Rhone-Alpes, that will be printed in English, in March 2012. It includes profiles of companies, start-up projects and private investors. New for 2012: the directory will include the research units and their teams and care facilities in the region. The directory is available all year long in French and English on Lyonbiopole’s  website.

2011/12/02 - Success for Lyonbiopole's "Private Inv€stment Day"

For the 3rd consecutive year, Lyonbiopole, in partnership with CREALYS, ECLOSION², GRAIN and OSEO, organized its day dedicated to Private Inv€stment at Sanofi Pasteur headquarters (Lyon-Gerland) on December 2nd, 2011. This day is dedicated to setting-up and managing innovative start-ups in biotechnology and health. It aims to facilitate and develop contacts with business angels, venture capital and private investors. For its 3rd edition, the event gathered 125 participants including more than half of SMBs and start-up projects alongside private investors.

2011/11/30 - The European Commission announces its new investment program in research and innovation "Horizon 2020" (2014-2020)

The European Commission has presented a package of measures to promote research, innovation and competitiveness in Europe. The"Horizon 2020"program will amount to €80 billion. The objectives are to boost the competitiveness of the European Union maintaining its scientific and technological base, support its research capacities and strengthen the growth of its leading industries. Lyonbiopole is closely following the future development of this program.

ZOOM SUR
CYTOO

2011 was an important year for the company CYTOO. Indeed, CYTOO which develops, manufactures and commercializes innovative products to the Life Sciences research community, has been involved in two projects with the European project MEHTRICS which received € 4 million grant from the European Union in FP7. Moreover, CYTOO raised 10 M$ (7M€) in series C Round.

2012/01/20 - The biotechnology  workshop "ways of research in sepsis" will be led by members and partners of Sepsis program during the 40th International Congress of the Society of French Language Resuscitation

The Sepsis program, coordinated by Lyonbiopole, takes part in the 40th International Congress of the Society of French Language Resuscitation, which will be held on January from 18th to 20th, 2012 at the CNIT (Centre des Nouvelles Industries et Technologies) in Paris La Défense. Members and partners of Sepsis program will be present  on January 20th and will host the biotechnology  workshop "ways of research in sepsis".

2012/03/20 - Lyonbiopole, partner of the 1st monoclonal antibodies workshop on the occasion of the 7th scientific days of CLARA

CLARA will organize on March 20th to 21st, 2012 the 7th scientific days. Lyonbiopole is partner of the first day on March 20th on "Innovative Approaches in Anticancer Monoclonal Antibodies". This day will consist on presentations led by Janice Reichert, Christian Klein, Coiffier Bertrand and Alain Beck, roundtables and face-to-face.

2012/05/25 - Trade Mission on Personalized Medicine at the occasion of the Biomarker World Congress

At the occasion of Biomarker World Congress, that will take place in Philadelphia from May 21st to 23rd 2012, Lyonbiopole in collaboration with the 6 other french Bioclusters, will organize a trade mission dedicated to Personalized Medicine. This trade mission will gather french companies active in the field of Biomarker and Personalized Medicine and willing to build strategic and technological partnership with US companies. This operation, led by Atlanpole, is a result of a strong collaboration between the French BioClusters, the DGCIS (Ministry of Industry) and the UbiFrance 's teams from France and US.

2012/01/12 – Organisation of a "Europe Workshop" on "Eurostars" calls for projects

The 8th Eurostars Cut-off is now open. The deadline for submission is on March 1st, 2012. In order to help you in your project building for this call and the next in 2012, Lyonbiopole organizes a practical "Europe Workshop" in its headquarter. 2011/12/14 - 14th FUI calls for projects “Single Interministry funding”

The 14th FUI call for projects will be launched in March 2012. To be eligible to these calls your project must be a collaborative R&D project accredited by a Competitiveness Cluster involving at least 2 companies and one laboratory or one research center. 2011/12/06 - The European project BioX4Clusters has passed the two-stage selection

The BioX4Clusters project coordinated by ERAI and gathering 4 European Life Sciences clusters - Lyonbiopole (host cluster organisation), BioCat, BioM and BioPmed - has been selected after the launching of the call for projects "Promoting world-class clusters" by DG Enterprise (European Commission ) in March 2011. The project objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of SME members of the 4 clusters by facilitating their international development (3 target markets: Brazil, China, USA). By mutualising their internationalization tools, the 4 clusters and ERAI will develop an efficient common strategy for their SMEs outside Europe. Thanks to the project, the clusters will enhance their visibility beyond the European Union. The project is under contracting with the European Commission.

2011/12/12 - The modeling platform of The CoSMo Company selected by the consortium Biopredyn

8 Europeans academic laboratories and 3 industrial partners join forces in the "BioPreDyn project" (New Bioinformatics Methods and Tools for Data-Driven, Predictive Dynamic Modeling in Biotechnological Applications) to develop new computational tools and methods based on a very innovative software platform to integrate within models the massive amount of data arising in biotechnology. The final goal of this three-year project funded within the 7th Framework Program of the European Commission is to improve biotechnological processes leading to in-silico simulations.The kick-off meeting for BioPreDyn will be held on the 12th and 13th of December at the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona, the project coordinator site.

2011/09/26 - ETICS project supported by ISI Oséo (Cytoo)

The ETICS project, accredited by Lyonbiopole, led by Cytoo is supported by OSEO, the French agency supporting innovation, and will receive €7.6 million in funding over 5 years. ETICS will focus on the development of cell-based assays, which will be commercialized as kits, comprising cells genetically modified by Cellectis bioresearch and CYTOO’s micropatterned supports.

2011/11/23 - Synapcell, member of Lyonbiopole, once again turns to NeuroTherapeutics Pharma for its epilepsy drug project

SynapCell, an expert in assessing the efficacy of epilepsy drugs, today announced an expansion of its partnership with NeuroTherapeutics Pharma. Promising epilepsy drugs are already being tested on the MTLE mouse, a predictive model that reproduces the characteristics of an epilepsy syndrome generally refractory to treatment in humans.

2011/10/27 - Bio Elpida has just obtained two GMP certificates from the French regulatory authorities AFSSAPS

Bio Elpida, a CMO dedicated to the development and clinical production of cell culture and cell therapy, has just obtained two GMP certificates from the French regulatory authorities AFSSAPS: the first one for its pharmaceutical activities. This certification are completing the Pharmaceutical Site accreditation obtained by Bio Elpida end of 2010.

2011/10/18 - The city of Lyon in 8th position of the top 10 ranking of the world's most innovative cities in 2011

The ranking of the most innovative cities in the world in 2011, conducted by the Australian company "2thinknow", the first global agency of analysis on innovation, puts Paris and Lyon in the top 10 of world's most innovative cities in 2011. Lyon is placed at 8th position in the world ranking and 5th in Europe. Lyon wins one place compared to Toronto, London, Tokyo, etc.. The ranking takes into account 331 cities worldwide and a certain number of criteria, including three factors: the cultural assets, human infrastructures and influence markets.

2011/11/30 - Lyon and Grenoble conquered Guyana
 
 


At the end of the 6 steps of the “Raid Amazones” (orienteering races and hiking, canoeing, mountain biking, archery and climbing team), the Lyon’s LyonBioTeam ranked in 8th position regarding the 75 teams of this 10th edition. The PX'Therapeutics’ Gin Team (Grenoble) finished in 14th position. This competition is a raid reserved only for women. It took place in Guyana from 21 to 30 November 2011.
