2011/10/07 - Lyonbiopole Partnering Days: registrate before October 1st, 2011

The 5th edition of Lyonbiopole Partnering Days will be held on Friday October 7th, 2011 at the Espace de l'Ouest Lyonnais (Lyon 5th, district). This event aims to foster exchanges between all the cluster's players: big companies, SMBs, academic and hospital. Nearly 300 participants are expected to attend to this 5th edition. More than 80 collaborative projects accredited by Lyonbiopole and funded since the cluster beginning will be presented during the day and 15 parallel roundtables will be organized on strategic and scientific topics. Furthermore, it will be the occasion for the participants to have a summary of the existing R&D funding tools and a presentation of the Lyonbiopole's cornerstone projects.

2011/11/08 - Lyonbiopole co-organizes the 3rd edition of Nosocomial Infections day

This event will take place on November 8th, 2011, at "Institut Français de l’Education" (19, allée de Fontenay 69007 Lyon). Organized by Lyonbiopole and the Finovi Foundation, in partnership with SHAM (insurance and risks management / health and medical-social sector), the day will focus on conferences and discussion to explore the various issues raised by nosocomial infections. These conferences will focus on: fungal infections in the morning and multi-resistance of pathogens in the afternoon. Registration for this event are required (seating limited to 120 people).

2011/12/02 - Opening registration to the 3rd edition of the Private Inv€stment Day

For the 3rd consecutive year, Lyonbiopole organizes, in partnership with CREALYS, ECLOSION, GRAIN and OSEO, the Private Investment Day on Friday 2nd December, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the headquarters of Sanofi Pasteur in Lyon Gerland. This event aims at facilitating/reinforcing the first contacts and the interactions between companies, managers of start-up projects and investors, from all type and all kind of private funding organizations. This event will be organized around roundtables, testimonials, networking and company or start-up projects presentations.

EDAP TMS

Since inception in 1979, EDAP TMS has been committed to introducing new and innovative technologies for minimally-invasive treatments of urological disorders. These proprietary technologies such as HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) or Electroconductive shock waves result from historical and efficient partnerships with INSERM (LabTau) and clinical institutions (HCL) which have yielded new minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of several pathologies such as localized prostate cancer or urinary tract stones. The strength of EDAP TMS' R&D is to master mechanical, acoustic, electronic and IT technologies to produce state-of-the-art and ergonomic medical devices.

2011/09/13 - Success for the 1st day dedicated to fungal infections organized by Lyonbiopole

Lyonbiopôle has set up a day dedicated to fungal infections on September 13th . The aim of this event, developed in partnership with Professor Hervé Pelloux, University Professor at the Joseph Fourier University and hospital practitioner at the University Hospital of Grenoble, was to bring together all public and private actors in the region working in this field, in order to set up actions on diagnosis and treatment of deep fungal infections.The day was structured around two phases: plenary presentations, in the morning and roundtables, in the afternoon.
A more detailed feedback on this day will be presented at the 5th edition of Lyonbiopôle Partnering Days.

2011/09/17 to 2011/09/21 - Lyonbiopole supports 20 French companies to participate at ICAAC in Chicago and the French Biotech Tour in Boston

In the framework of a collective mission, 20 French companies of which 10 members of Lyonbiopole participated in the ICAAC conference in Chicago, an internationally recognized scientific conference in the field of research on antimicrobial agents, infectious diseases and microbiology, followed by the French biotech Tour, networking event to build R&D collaborations in Boston. This collective mission is supported by the DGCIS, the French Ministry of Industry and co-organized by UBIFrance and Lyonbiopole, in collaboration with other french health cluster.

2011/09/21 –13th FUI calls for projects “Single Inter-ministry funding”

The 13th FUI call for project will be launched soon. To be eligible to these calls your project must be a collaborative R&D project accredited by a Competitiveness Cluster involving at least 2 companies and one laboratory or one research center. In order to anticipate to these calls, Lyonbiopole helps you to build your projects and studies your accreditation requests.

2011/09/08 – Launch of the 5th edition of the COOPOL Innovation Program (2012)

Coopol Innovation program aims at organizing meetings supported by the scientific department of the French Embassy in China and providing innovative SMEs with a mission to assess and identify partners for R&D project cooperation between French and Chinese players. Since the implementation of this program in May 2008, 17 specific missions have been planned and have brought concrete results with the launch of more than five R & D collaborative projects. These have benefited from support to finance a postdoctoral fellowship or a young engineer. The application form is to be returned before Wednesday, November 30th, 2011.

2011/07/20 - 6th FP7 Health calls open for proposals

The 6th FP7 Health calls for proposals designed for SMBs and encouraging strongly their involvement have officially opened on July 20th 2011. It is divided in three calls:
1) Innovation 1: Indicative budget: € 546 million (deadline for stage 1 proposals: October, 4th 2011)
2) Innovation 2: Indicative budget: € 108 million (deadline for stage 1 proposals: September 27th, 2011)
3) ERA-NET call 2012: Indicative budget € 38.5 million (deadline: February 28th, 2012).

2011/09 - International calls available: Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is accepting grant proposals for Round 8 of "Grand Challenges Explorations", an initiative to encourage innovative global health and development solutions (initial grants by projects 100 000 US dollars). Applicants can be at any experience level; in any discipline; and from any organization, including colleges and universities, research institutions, non-profit organizations and for profit companies. Deadline for grant proposals: November 17th, 2011 (topics:   Design new approaches to optimize immunization systems, Explore New Solutions in Global Health Priority Areas, Nutrition for Healthy Growth of Infants and Children…).

2011/09/15 – Two projects accredited by Lyonbiopole selected from the 12th FUI call for projects

These projects, ACILIMAB and IDITOP, are respectively led by the following companies: iDD biotech and EDAP TMS and involve others SMBs and research centers. Since 2005, 30 FUI (Single Interministry Fund) projects for a total amount of € 160 million investment have received public funding totaling € 63 million.

2011/09/21 - Kick-off Therapeutic Antibodies program led by Lyonbiopole

This program, following Lyonbiopole's thematic workshops, is coordinated by Nicolas Groux who has joined the cluster to develop the program aiming to structuring the therapeutic antibodies sector in Rhône Alpes. The objective is to make technologies such as structural biology and biochemical analysis accessible to all, offering customers a turnkey solution to their structural problems (by offering services in protein production for instance), and improving the technological skills of project partners. This program will be presented during the Lyonbiopole Partnering Days.

Lyonbiopole continues its Investor meetings cycle that aims at connecting SMBs and private investors. 2011/05/23 - Baxter sets up in the Greater Lyon

The foundations of the future Baxter Distribution Centre for the South of France were laid last May to Jonage in the Greater Lyon. Baxter will optimize, in 2012, the availability of its products to health facilities in the southern half of France. This new structure will also create, from the opening, twenty jobs.

2011/07/27 - PX’Therapeutics Licenses RIBOVAX’s SEBVI Technology for the Development and Manufacturing of Fully Human Monoclonal Antibodies

The licensing agreement will allow PX’Therapeutics to access to Ribovax’s patented SEBVI Technology for the discovery and development of entirely human origin antibodies.
PX’Therapeutics intends to use the SEBVI technological platform to offer an expanded range of services in the field of human monoclonal antibody development and production for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
