2011/07/04  - Register now to the Lyonbiopole Partnering Days

The 5th edition of Lyonbiopole Partnering Days will be held on Friday October 7th, 2011 at the Espace de l'Ouest Lyonnais (Lyon 5th, district). This event aims to foster exchanges between all the cluster's players: big industries, SMBs, academic and hospital. Nearly 300 participants are expected to attend to this 5th edition. More than 80 collaborative projects accredited by Lyonbiopole and funded since the cluster beginning will be presented during the day and 15 parallel roundtables will be organized on strategic and scientific topics. Furthermore, it will be the occasion for the participants to have a summary of the existing R&D funding tools and a presentation of the Lyonbiopole's cornerstone projects.

2011/06/27 - The 5th edition of the FTRD was a great success with over 300 participants

In parallel of the BIO International Convention, the most important exhibition worldwide in Life Sciences, that took place on June 27th to 30th, at Washington DC, Lyonbiopole and the 6 french healthcare competitiveness clusters worked together to the organization of the 5th edition of the "Fast-Track R&D Partnering with France". For this 5th edition, Lyonbiopole has led this collective international action of the french clusters, in partnership with UbiFrance and with the support of DGCIS (French government). This annual event aims both to promote the skills and expertise of the French biotech SMBs, and to know more about the needs of the large companies in this field. This year, over 300 participants were present on Monday, June 27th, 2011. At the BIO International Convention, the French pavilion has hosted roughly 100 French co-exhibitor companies.

CALIXAR SAS proposes a set of R&D services for the production of functional membrane therapeutic and vaccine targets in solution from gene or cell lines, based on a non-denaturing patented extraction/purification technology for membrane proteins. The company develops its activity of R&D in the design and production of new reagents (detergent, stabilizers, crystallization promoters,...) and is also involved in collaborative projects through its services.

2011/09/13 - Lyonbiopole organizes for the first year a day dedicated to fungal infections

This day will take place on September 13th, 2011 at Lyonbiopole and will gather around 40 participants. The morning will welcome regional experts around three major themes: environment, diagnosis and therapeutic strategies. The afternoon will be devoted to exchanges in roundtables. Lyonbiopole, with its scientific animation experience, innovates and deploys for this first edition a new methodology for animation. This original approach is to explore scientific issues in a different perspective in order to generate ideas for innovative projects.

2011/11/08 - 3rd edition of Nosocomial Infections day

This event will take place on November 8th, 2011, at "Institut Français de l’Education" (19, allée de Fontenay 69007 Lyon). The morning is dedicated to fungal infections and afternoon to multi-resistance of pathogens.
For the second year, Lyonbiopole and the Foundation Finovi organize, in partnership with SHAM (insurance and risks management / health and medical-social sector), this day of conferences on the theme of nosocomial infections.

2011/09/15 to 2011/09/16 - The 3rd edition of European Cancer Cluster Partnering will be held in Toulouse

ECCP is a Business to Business event, focused on oncology and dedicated to companies and bioclusters specialized in cancer. This event gathers business conventions, conferences, round tables, company's presentations and networking events and bring together all kind of players: big pharma, SMBs, clinicians, researchers, funders and bioclusters. ECCP is organized by two European cluster dedicated to cancer: Cancer-Bio-Santé of Toulouse and Oslo Cancer Cluster.

2011/09/16 to 2011/09/21 - Save the date: participate to a collective mission on « Infectious diseases and Immunology »

This mission will be held from 16th to 21st of September 2011 on the US East Coast. It is addressed to every French biotech company that works on infectious diseases and immunology (drug discovery/development, vaccines, biotherapies, diagnostics, CRO/CMO, technology transfer) willing to develop industrial and technological partnerships with US partners.This mission offers the opportunity to participate at the ICAAC congress in Chicago, then at the French Biotech Tour in Boston (meetings and visits of research centers). The mission results from a collaboration between the French Biotech Competitiveness Clusters and is coordinated by Lyonbiopole, the French Ministry of Industry, Ubifrance (French and American offices).

2011/10/09 to 2011/10/12 - Lyonbiopole partner of a Medtech and Biotech delegation organized by Erai in China

Population growth and ageing, improvement of standards of living ..., make health a major societal issue in China. This mission will allow to discover the activitiy of China in the field of health through the visit of the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, a special day dedicated to the promotion of biotechnology and medical technology in Rhône-Alpes, the visit of the BIO China International Convention and an individual BtoB program. Lyonbiopole makes available a Volunteer for International Experience in Shanghai in order to facilitate access to the Chinese market.

07/07/2011 - First call for projets "Mutualized Platform of innovation".

The first call Mutualized Platform of innovation is launched and will be closed the 30th January 2012. The projects must be dedicated to bring mutualized resources in open access, mainly for the members of the competitiveness cluster(s) which have accredited the project.
Services and specific access conditions for SMBs and medium phase businesses will be particularly important.

The next 2012 FP7 Health calls for proposals are expected to be published in July 2012. You can already consult the draft work programme describing in details the topics of the upcoming calls. 2011/07/08 - Results of Lyonbiopole’s R&D projects: BIOTHERAPIC

The Biotherapic project was accredited by the worldwide competitiveness cluster Lyonbiopole in 2005. It was supported by the Single Inter-Ministry Fund (FUI) and received a funding from the French State, the European Union and local authorities. The project aimed at accelerating the development of a therapeutic vaccine against Hepatitis C. It gathered a unique network of competences in infectious diseases which was crucial for all the drug creation process from research to clinical development phases. This project ended in November 2009 and was a real success.

2011/07/07 - Lyonbiopole becomes member of the European Diagnostic Cluster Alliance (EDCA)

On July 7th, during the EIC 2011 event « The Euromediag International Convention » organized in Montpellier, Lyonbiopole officially joins the EDCA piloted by Eurobiomed / Euromediag cluster (that gathers players from Languedoc Roussillon and PACA). Thus, the cluster reinforces its cooperation with large European clusters specialized in the field of medical diagnostic such as Eurobiomed, BioWin (Wallony), BioCat (Catalonia) and commits itself to sustain players of the European medical diagnostic field.

2011/10/22 to 2011/10/29 - Lyonbiopole will be present to the International Sepsis Forum

On the occasion of the International Sepsis Forum, an international congress dedicated to this pathology, Lyonbiopole will be present in China from October 22th to 29th, 2011. The first step will be in Shanghai to visit hospitals and meet with intensive care units. The second step will be in Beijing to participate to the International Sepsis Forum, for two days. The event aims to provide a report on the state of the art of sepsis and on the future therapeutic perspectives.

2011/07/05 to 2011/07/07 - The French National Research Agency (ANR) organized the Grand Symposium 2011 of Biology and Health in Lyon and gathered nearly 450 participants

The Grand Symposium 2011 of Biology and Health took place in Lyon on July 5th, 6th, 7th, 2011 at Centre des Congrès de Lyon and gathered nearly 450 participants. It was an opportunity to present and discuss the results of 105 projects funded under 2006 and 2007 (and others funding in 2008). The conference was also the opportunity for many exchanges around an exhibition presenting over 200 posters.

2011/06/22 -bioMérieux launches a new innovative food safety testing method

bbioMérieux, a world leader in the field of in vitro diagnostics, today announced the launch of a new, innovative food safety testing method, VIDAS® UP Salmonella (SPT). This new food safety solution utilizes recombinant bacteriophage (phage) proteins, which offer best-in-class specificity and sensitivity for the targeted capture and detection of Salmonella bacteria in food and environmental samples. The technology complements the company’s VIDAS E. coli O157 (including H7) phage technology for the detection of Escherichia coli O157:H7.

2011/06/24 - Adocia launches Phase IIa clinical study on type 1 diabetic patients with its fast-acting human insulin, HinsBet®

The recent positive clinical results obtained with Adocia’s BioChaperone® technology will be the subject of oral presentations at three international scientific congresses. During these conferences, Adocia presented results of a Phase I clinical study. The company completed a Phase I study in March on healthy volunteers showing that the action of HinsBet® is as fast that of NovoLog® and has less variability. The positive clinical results obtained with HinsBet® during the Phase I study have permitted to quickly start a second study of Phase IIa on 20 type 1 diabetics.

2011/06 - Integrated Research site on cancer: Lyon's project selected

The project of Integrated Research site on cancer presented by the Health Cooperation Group (GCS) Centre Léon Bérard - Hospices Civils de Lyon has been accredited by the "Institut National du Cancer" (INCA). Only two projects on twelve projects presented has been selected. INCA announced on Monday, June 20th, the accreditation of the first two French integrated multidisciplinary research sites. This accreditation guarantees a funding of 1.8 million euros per year over 5 years.

2011/09/20 - 11th edition of the" Deloitte Technology Fast 50": Take part of Rhône-Alpes / Auvergne Awards!
