2011/03/28 - The founding industrials of LyonBioTech presented to the press, their joint project of Technological Research Institute in infectious diseases

On the occasion of BioVision, World Forum of Life Sciences, Christopher A. Viehbacher, CEO of sanofi-aventis, Alain Mérieux, President of the Institut Mérieux and Frederic René, General Director of Danone Research’s Fresh Dairy, in presence of Gérard Collomb, Senator-Mayor of Lyon, President of Greater Lyon, have expressed their support for the Technological Research Institute (TRI) project in infectious diseases, LyonBioTech, developed by Lyonbiopole jointly with the Institut Pasteur in Paris. This ambitious candidacy answers the call for projects "Technological Research Institutes" launched under the Investments for Future.

2011/03/28 – Launch of the European Institute of System Biology and Medicine (EISBM), on the occasion of BioVision

As part of the conference "From systems biology to personalized medicine", Professor Charles Auffray launched EISBM. This Institute is the anchor of the international consortium Systemoscope already having two locations: the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, chaired by Professor Leroy Hood and the Center for Systems Biomedicine in Shanghai led by Professor Chen Zhu. The theme "Systems Biology" is one of the thematic priorities of Lyonbiopole since 2008. This project brings together key players in Rhône-Alpes on systems biology. It was initiated by Lyonbiopole and supported by the University of Lyon I. www.eisbm.org

The 2011 edition of Lyonbiopole’s directory presents profiles of companies, project creation in life sciences and private investors in Rhône-Alpes. This document is produced by Lyonbiopole supported by Aderly and in partnership with CREALYS and Grain. This directory is also available on Lyonbiopole website.
Lyonbiopole also just issued its 2010 key figures and 2010 Yearbook, which is a retrospective of 2010 highlights of Lyonbiopôle, its members and its environment.

PRESBEASY

Presbeasy, incorporated March 11th, 2011, develops for the ophtalmic market diffractive intra-corneal diffractive lenses for chirurgical correction of presbyopia. Presbeasy, incubated by Crealys, has obtained the Novacité label and is located in the Tony Garnier building in Gerland, the Lyonbiopole area. A fund raising process is being launched in order to support the validation of the technology through clinical tests

2011/04/11-12 - FABS (French American Biotech Symposium) 2011 on
« New Therapeutic Approaches of Aging », Gladstone Institutes, San Francisco, CA

Co-organized by Eurobiomed and the Office for Science and Technology of the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles, the symposium is focused on “New therapeutic approaches of aging”. Two sessions will cover key topics in the field of 1/ the Biology and Therapy of Aging and 2/ Innovative Approaches to Age-Related Diseases. Each session will propose French and American presentations followed by a discussion with participants. This event benefits from the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DGM), French Ministry of Industry (DGCIS) and sanofi-aventis.

2011/06/27 - Lyonbiopole will be present at BIO Washington and organises the 5th edition of the Fast Track R&D Partnering with France (FTRD)

BIO 2011 International Convention, the World Life Sciences Congress will be held on June, from 27th to 30th, 2011 in Washington DC. On Monday 27th June 2011, Lyonbiopole will organise the 5th edition of the Fast Track R&D Partnering with France (FTRD) in collaboration with UbiFrance and the French Biotech Clusters, with the support of DGCIS (French Government). This networking moment allows each year to build contact with international companies and presents offers of biotech's technological partnerships and Pharma's partnership needs. During the Congress, Lyonbiopole welcomes you on the French Pavillon, that gathers Rhone-Alpes life sciences actors and companies. This booth is co-funded by the Rhone-Alpes region, Greater Lyon, Greater Grenoble and Aderly in collaboration with Lyonbiopole, Lyon Chamber of Commerce and UbiFrance.

2011/09/18 - Save the date : participate to a collective mission on « Infectious diseases and Immunology »

This mission will be held from 18th to 23rd of September 2011 on the US East Coast. It is addressed to every French biotech company that works on infectious diseases and immunology (drug discovery/development, vaccines, biotherapies, diagnostics, CRO/CMO, technology transfert) willing to develop industrial and technological partnerships with US partners. The mission results from a collaboration between all the French Biotech Competitiveness Clusters and is coordinated by Lyonbiopole, the French Ministry of Industry, Ubifrance (French and American offices).

2011/05/27 - Rhône-Alpes day of Biomolecules (JRAB 2011) will be held in Lyon this year

This edition is focused on the theme "From identification to use as tools for diagnosis, targeting and therapy". Rhône-Alpes Day of Biomolecules will be held next May 27th, 2011, at the Amphitheatre of ISTIL - University Claude Bernard Lyon 1. On this occasion a call for presentation or for poster is launched. You have until April 29th, 2011 to submit your application. The award for best poster will be issued by the Société Chimique de France - Rhône Alpes.

Next Eurostars call for projects

Lyonbiopole organizes a « Europe » workshop on April 29th, 2011, on the next Eurostars call for projects (next deadline for application: September 22th 2011).  This workshop is organized in 3 parts: the presentation of the programme from 12:00 to 14:00 by Patrick Cornet (French Eurostars OSEO coordinator), exchanges with the speaker during lunch and individual confidential meetings from 14:00 to 18:00 with the speaker to discuss about a potential project.

3rd « Innovation express » call (TACTIS project)

Deadline for proposal: April 30th, 2011
"Innovation express" aims at supporting strategic partnerships between clusters at the international level and fostering technological cooperation for SMBs. A 3rd « Innovation express » call for proposal is launched in the framework of the Tactis project (led by OSEO) in order to support strategic partnerships between clusters at the international level and fostering technologic cooperation for SMBs. The Innovation Express European partners are OSEO, Vinnova (SE), Clusterland (Upper Austria, Region de Linz), Dasti (DK),  Public Service of Wallonie (SPW BE), IWT (Flandres BE), Regional council of Ile de France, Directorate General of Industry of Catalogne (ES), PAED (PL). For France, OSEO will funding at the national level project applications from clusters for 5 to 10 SMBs by clusters with a maximum funding of € 15 K by SMB.

OSEO:  launch of permanent calls for proposals France - Mexico / France - Russia

The purpose of these calls is to identify projects of technological and R&D partnerships lead by companies of both countries and to benefit from financial support from OSEO in France, CONACYT in Mexico and FASIE in Russia. All technology sectors are concerned. The proposals will concern the development of new products of all innovative sectors. Interested companies can submit at any time, simultaneously a declaration of intent signed with OSEO and Conacyt or FASIE and email it to the program leader in each country. As a reminder, OSEO has also established ongoing calls for cooperation France - Israel and France - Brazil

2011/03/31 - Results of Lyonbiopole’s R&D projects:  FIV-Vax

FIV-Vax, project accredited by the worldwide competitiveness cluster Lyonbiopole, aimed at conceived a vaccine against the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). The project, achieved by a consortium of industrial and academic partners, gathered expertise in the fields of HIV (Department of epidemiology and hygiene at the Hospices Civils de Lyon and Institut of Biology and Protein Chemistry, UMR CNRS 5086), of FIV (Merial and UMR CNRS 5558) and of new technologies (PX’Therapeutics).The assessment is very positive as the main objectives have been achieved.

2011/03/01 - Two projects accredited by Lyonbiopole, obtain public funding from the 11th FUI calls for projects

After their accreditation by Lyonbiopole, worldwide competitiveness cluster, the projects DIVRESCUE and DDELPHES, coordinated by SMBs or industrials, in collaboration with research centers, have been selected by the DGCIS. They represent a global investment of € 7.7 million and will receive € 3.7 million of public funding. Since 2005, Lyonbiopole has accredited 91 multi-partner R&D projects for a total R&D investment of €467 M of which €192 M have been obtained from State, local authorities, OSEO, ERDF, NRA and European Commission.

2011/02/04 - Sepsis program:  1 project selected at the call of projects launched by the Interregional Delegation of Clinical Research of Rhône-Alpes – Auvergne

The Sepsis program, coordinated by Lyonbiopole, integrates a new project. The 3 hospital partners of the program, the University Hospital of Grenoble, Lyon Civil Hospitals and the University Hospital of Saint-Etienne, associated with the University Hospital of Clermont-Ferrand, the Albert Bonniot Institute U823 and the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique launch a clinical research project on “the impact of bronchial colonization with yeast on the occurrence of late ventilator-associated pneumonia”.

2011/03/14 - First successful technical collaboration between ImmunID and Roche Diagnostics, both members of Lyonbiopole

ImmunID announces the successful validation of its IFS4 Immune Forecast Station on a Roche Diagnostics France quantitative 480 PCR system. This collaboration was aimed at qualifying an IFS4, located at the Lyonbiopole’s infectious Diseases Center, within the consortium PLATINE.

2011/02/25 - Ipsen and bioMérieux enter into a broad partnership in personalized medicine

Ipsen (Euronext: IPN; ADR: IPSEY) and bioMérieux (Euronext: BIM) announced that they have entered into a partnership to create a global collaboration in theranostics, with a focus on hormone-dependent cancers. The two companies have signed a framework agreement to leverage their expertise and resources to develop a personalized approach to medicine based on Ipsen’s broad portfolio of innovative compounds and bioMérieux’s diagnostic tests.

2011/03/30 - France Biotech presents the results of its "Life Science Panorama 2010" survey, hosted in Lyonbiopole’s pavilion at BioVision

On the occasion of BioVision in Lyon and hosted by Lyonbiopole, France Biotech, the French association of life science companies, presented the results of its "Life Science Panorama 2010" survey, which describes the main trends for 2009/2010 in the life science industry in France and internationally. The results for 2010 attest to a dynamic, fast-growing sector and signal the arrival of the "second generation" of biotech companies in France.

2011/05/31 - Universal Biotech Innovation Prize 2011 call for projects

Universal Biotech Innovation Prize is intended to European project owners within young innovative biotech companies and to academic members working in research. This grant rewards the best innovation within the two following areas: innovative therapy and medical devices. For its third edition, the Innovation Prize 2011 will be awarded on September 27th,  2011, during the Innovation Days 2011, taking place on September, 26th to 28th, 2011, at the Cite Internationale Universitaire de Paris. The call for proposals of Universal Biotech Innovation Prize is open until May 31th, 2011.
