APD, a start-up based in Lyon and spun off the incubator MD Start, is pleased to announce the closing of a 1.6M€ round of financing with French Venture Capital firms Sofimac Partners, Kurma Partners, Idenvest and Crédit Agricole Création. This pool of VC’s has joint former shareholders of the company comprising the management, MD Start, Simba Santé and other seasoned business angels from the Medtech industry.

APD develops and prepares to market innovative technology for the Critical Care and Anesthesia markets. The company focuses on microcirculation monitoring as a novel approach to improve the management of patients in shock or undergoing major surgery. Further to promising animal trials conducted at Vet Agro Sup in Lyon, APD launched a “First-in-Man” campaign in three French University hospitals. The ongoing clinical trial shall include a total of ten patients and is led by Prof. Bernard Allaouchiche, from Hôpital Lyon Sud (Hospices Civiles de Lyon).

The proceeds of this round of financing, combined to substantial support received from Bpifrance, will be used for CE Mark and market launch of first APD gut perfusion monitor as well as to perform clinical studies assessing the benefits of this innovative technology.
