Abstract

Glass is the only containing which offers a good barrier effect against gas and is mostly used for the preservation of a lot of drug. To package drugs without preservative it is necessary to develop packagings with high barrier properties. POLYBIO aims at developing plastic packaging with a good barrier effect to be used for pharmaceutical products. This project should lead to a range of innovative plastic containing, biocompatible and insuring protection of biological fluids and injectable products during a longer period.

Objectives

The POLYBIO aim is to make a subsidiary that produces containers pharmaceutical grade polymers with barrier characteristics that respond to the needs of industry. - Fortification the container against solutions, in order to reduce absorption of the PA by the polymer, - Decreasing the permeability of the polymer countainer physical agents and against solution, - Reinforcement of the polymer containers resistance to physical agents such as temperature, radiation, uv, electronic beams, - Optimization of the container: dimensional and functional characteristics which allow easier usage.
