The scientific project of UMR 5240 is based on a common interest for the mechanisms of adaptation and pathogenesis of microorganisms. The different teams contribute to this scientific activity by their expertise in different types of organisms: bacteria, yeasts or fungi. The objectives are to understand the processes of adaptation from the molecular level to integration within a cellular context of interactions with the environment and other organisms. The pathogenesis is considered a special case of adaptation to another living organism (plants, amoebas, insects, humans). The phenomenon of adaptation involves both an optimal use of the surrounding medium for microbial growth and the capacity of resistance to the hostile conditions
