The IBS is a joint research unit of the CEA, the CNRS, and the University Grenoble Alpes. IBS is also integrated into the Grenoble Interdisciplinary Research Institute (IRIG) and member of the department of integrated structural and cellular biology (DRF/IRIG/DBSCI). The IBS is located on the EPN (European Photon and Neutron) campus and collaborates with its partners ESRF, EMBL and ILL under the framework of the Partnership for Structural Biologuy (PSB)(https://www.psb-grenoble.eu/).

The mission of the IBS is to perform state of the art research in integrated structural biology at the interface between biology, chemistry and physics. Our research programs are mainly oriented towards basic research with an opening towards applied research. IBS hosts 300 staff who carries out research within 19 research groups related to the three research programs:

- Microbiology, Infection and Immunity

- Membrane Proteins and Glycobiology

- Dynamics, Assembly and Reactivity

Research at IBS benefits from 12 state-of-the-art platforms, administered by the ISBG (UMS CNRS / CEA / UGA / EMBL). The IBS/ISBG platforms are part of the national infrastructure FRISBI and a europeen Instruct-ERIC center, providing academic and industrial access.
